Janus Mobile Armor

Custom designed, 3D printed, and painted giant mech I made based loosely on a combination of some of my favorite Zeon mobile suits from Gundam. Lots of hard work over several months leading up to the first Buildcon in San Francisco, USA November 18, 2019. Got 3rd place in their model competition :) Can't wait to do another eventually!

Sketches done in Photoshop, sculpting done in Zbrush. Chitubox is my slicer and the original Anycubic Photon was my 3D printer for this model. I believe it was printed in about 50 pieces. Glued up with two-part epoxy. Base colors applied with an airbrush and final details and touch-up with brushes, all acrylic except for the topcoat (spray lacquer, applied carefully) and Rub'n Buff for some of the high point metal areas. Brown and black ground up pastels applied with a brush for shading.

Test fitting of main body using a donut holder for a base and epoxy resin for joint filler. Lots of parts with huge gaps but the resin was great and you can't tell :D
